My testimony
I don't really have oily skin, more like combination skin. Oily on the “T” zone (forehead, nose and chin) and drier on the rest of the face. Most of the time it's only visible in the evening and it doesn't cause me problems with pimples or blackheads. However, when I am tired, seborrheic production increases and I find myself with a really shiny forehead and lower face throughout the day. If I'm not careful, I can see pimples appear on my forehead or small blackheads on my chin.
My tip
Oily skin requires special attention. This involves eliminating impurities which, by mixing with sebum, can form blackheads and pimples, but too aggressive cleaning with an unsuitable soap risks promoting sebum production.
In the morning, I recommend using cedar hydrosol to wash and tone the face, then moisturize and nourish the skin with an emulsion composed of equal parts of good quality cosmetic aloe vera gel (we found on slow-cosmetique.com) and vegetable oil of apricot kernel or jojoba. Simply mix 20ml of aloe vera and 20ml of vegetable oil in a pump bottle and shake well before use.
In the evening, use apricot kernel or macadamia oil on a washable wipe to remove makeup. We finish cleansing with cedar or rosemary hydrosol, before applying the morning aloe vera + vegetable oil emulsion to the still damp skin.
Once a week, I recommend making a mask with white clay and rosemary hydrosol. Clay helps absorb excess sebum and regulate its production and, from time to time, I use a natural sponge. Very gentle on the skin, it allows delicate abrasion of the face.
What does herbal medicine say?
Oily skin can be linked to different factors: heredity, hormonal imbalances, stress, climate changes. It is characterized by significant sebum production, called “seborrhea”. Sebum is this fatty lipid film which, when well regulated, serves to protect the skin. But when there is too much, the skin shines and pores become clogged more easily, opening the door to imperfections. Cedar hydrosol, through its purifying, rebalancing and astringent action, helps regulate oily and acne-prone skin. It is also effective in cases of eczema, psoriasis, itching and dermatosis. The tonic circulatory and lymphatic properties of cedar hydrosol also make it a very good ally against heavy legs, cellulite and water retention.

Although it is not very aesthetic to have a shiny face, excessive seborrhea nevertheless has its advantages: oily, thicker skin is less sensitive to eczema problems and is more resistant to external aggressions and the passage of time. !
