Laricio pine, endemic to Corsica, is a straight and slender trunk tree up to 50m high. It is well suited to the Mediterranean climate, which it supports summer drought, and pushes anywhere between 800 and 1800m altitude. This tree was exploited from Antiquity as a material for homes and for boat masts. It is still used currently for fine carpentry. Laricio pine is known for its antiseptic properties.
